Marilyn Walker

Marilyn Walker, President & CEO of synergize!, knows something about assessing people and performance.

Recently, Marilyn Walker has been honored with the Athena Award, presented by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. The video clip below shows Marilyn's reaction to the award.

With a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology Marilyn worked as a psychotherapist in inpatient and partial hospital programs for several years before leaving to become the Central Pennsylvania Branch Director for a national non-profit child welfare organization.

In addition to negotiating state contracts, developing systems and overseeing the budget Marilyn was responsible for selecting, training, developing and terminating staff. She also supervised the assessment of potential adoptive parents and women considering the option of adoption.

When Marilyn left that organization she joined Success Performance Solutions as the Director of the Employee and Career Assessment Centers. In 2005 Success Performance Solutions opened the Right Turn on Red Career Assessment Center, under Marilyn's direction, to help individuals identify a satisfying career fit. Marilyn was a monthly columnist ("Make the Right Turn on Red") and is a contributing writer for Business Woman magazine. Marilyn is a Certified Behavior Analyst and certified in the ASSESS Strategic Success Model aligning job-related competencies with candidate and employee potential. Marilyn is an expert in diagnosing the five dysfunctions of a team and helping teams overcome the dysfunctions that negatively impact results. Her clients include small family-owned businesses and multi-million dollar corporations all over the country. She is a sought-after public speaker with an energetic and practical presentation style that has spurred organizations to place her in the after-lunch time slot for breakout sessions because they know she'll "keep everybody awake."

In addition to growing synergize! and having fun helping her clients Marilyn is a member of the Leadership Lancaster Class 2010. She also enjoys working a few hours a week as a psychotherapist with Behavioral Healthcare Corporation. She is a mother of five and beaming grandmother of Lilah and Phineus–"Finn". She is a runner who has competed in several 5K (3.1 mile) races. Marilyn completed the Philadelphia Distance Run half marathon (13.1 miles) on September 20, 2009. She raised $2252.88 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of her mentor and friend, David Nutter, who died of leukemia on September 20th, 2004.
